Fine Droplet Fire Suppression

Water Mist Fire Suppression

Water Mist Fire Suppression delivers fast and efficient fire control using high-pressure nozzles that create ultra-fine droplets, quickly absorbing heat and reducing oxygen.

Overview

Where it fits
  • Heritage sites, hotels, public areas and transport hubs
  • Data rooms, control rooms and archives
  • Industrial machinery spaces and turbines
Key advantages
  • Significantly lower water usage vs. sprinklers
  • Rapid cooling and steam inerting at the flame
  • Less collateral damage and quicker recovery

How It Works

Suppression mechanism

High-pressure nozzles atomize water into micro-droplets. The vast surface area extracts heat rapidly while forming localized steam that reduces oxygen where combustion occurs.

  • Fast heat absorption and flame knock-down
  • Limited visibility impact vs. traditional spray
  • Lower runoff and cleaner post-event conditions
Activation & control

Systems can be open-nozzle (deluge with detection) or automatic nozzle types. Detection and control logic coordinate pumps, valves and equipment shutdowns.

  • Interfaces with fire alarm and BMS
  • Pump start, zone selection, and post-ventilation
  • Manual release and local indicators

Design & Validation

Performance depends on nozzle type, pressure, spacing and obstruction effects. We base layouts on validated data and match pump capacity to simultaneous demand.

Inputs we assess
  • Hazard class, ceiling height and compartment size
  • Nozzle spacing, orientation and shadowing
  • Water quality, filtration and materials
Hydraulics
  • Pressure/flow balance across branches
  • Pump curves, accumulator and relief design
  • Test connections and acceptance criteria
Documentation
  • Layouts, valve schedules and isometrics
  • Cause-and-effect matrix and interlocks
  • Commissioning plans and maintenance guides

FAQ

Is water mist suitable for occupied spaces?
Yes—when engineered correctly. It uses less water and limits collateral damage, making it appropriate for many public and sensitive areas.
How is it different from sprinklers?
Sprinklers use larger droplets and more water. Mist focuses on heat absorption and localized steam effects with much lower water volumes.
What about maintenance?
Routine pump tests, nozzle inspections and filtration checks. We provide schedules and reports for compliance.
