Water-Based Fire Suppression

Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems

Sprinkler Systems: Proven, reliable fire suppression engineered to control or extinguish fires at their source. ZOD Fire Safety Lebanon designs, installs, and maintains sprinkler solutions for commercial, industrial, and special-hazard environments.

Overview

Sprinkler systems are a first-line defense for many occupancies. Heat activates individual sprinkler heads closest to the fire, releasing water where it’s needed most. Proper hazard classification, hydraulic calculations, and water supplies are essential for performance.

Where they fit
  • Warehouses & logistics (including high-pile storage)
  • Retail, offices, hospitality, education & healthcare
  • Manufacturing, parking structures, mixed-use developments
Key advantages
  • Proven life safety and property protection
  • Automatic, localized activation reduces water use
  • Compatible with a wide range of hazards and occupancies
Integration
  • Monitored by fire alarm systems for waterflow & valve supervision
  • Pump & tank controls, diesel/electric jockey pumps
  • Interfaces with HVAC, elevators, gas shutoff where required

Sprinkler System Types

Wet Pipe

Pipework is permanently filled with water; the most common and cost-effective configuration for conditioned spaces.

  • Fastest response; minimal components
  • Ideal for offices, retail, hotels, schools
Dry Pipe

Air or nitrogen under pressure holds a dry valve closed until activation; designed for areas subject to freezing.

  • Protects unheated spaces, loading bays, car parks
  • Includes compressors, low-temperature controls
Pre-Action

Pipework is dry; a separate detection event opens a pre-action valve before sprinklers can operate—reducing accidental discharge risk.

  • Recommended for data rooms, museums, archives
  • Single- or double-interlock configurations
Deluge

Open sprinklers/nozzles discharge water across the entire area when a detection system opens the deluge valve.

  • For fast-spreading hazards: process, transformers, conveyors
  • Often paired with foam proportioning for flammable liquids
ESFR (Early Suppression Fast Response)

High-k-factor heads designed to suppress severe storage fires quickly—often eliminating in-rack sprinklers.

  • High-bay warehouses and distribution centers
  • Specific ceiling heights, commodities & clearance rules
In-Rack & Specialized

Targeted protection inside storage racks or for unique processes where ceiling systems alone are insufficient.

  • Complements ESFR or standard ceiling protection
  • Custom nozzles, branch line routing, impact protection

Design & Hydraulic Calculations

We engineer each system to the hazard, occupancy, and water supply. Our submittals include hydraulic calculations, isometrics, and valve/device schedules in line with applicable standards and local authority requirements.

Inputs we assess
  • Hazard/commodity classification & storage arrangement
  • Design density, area of operation, and hose allowances
  • Available water supply, pumps, and tank sizing
Hydraulic scope
  • K-factor & temperature rating selection
  • Pipe sizing, friction losses, and node pressures
  • Remote area analysis & safety margins
Documentation & quality
  • Shop drawings, riser details, seismic bracing layouts
  • Valve, alarm, and monitoring cause-and-effect
  • Inspection test plans and handover dossier
